ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday emphasised the need to promote interfaith dialogue, foster open and respectful conversations among different communities, and uphold justice and fairness in all aspects of life.

He expressed these views while addressing the closing session of the First International Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyeen Conference, organised by the National Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority (NRKNA) at National Skills University here.

He called for peacefully resolving conflicts and encouraged leaders to embody the ethical principles of humility, integrity, and responsibility exemplified by the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

“The vision, teachings, and principles of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) encourage us to build bridges of understanding and foster a spirit of brotherhood. Let us commit to building a world where peace prevails over conflict, where love triumphs over hatred, and where coexistence becomes our shared reality,” the Senate chairman said.

He emphasised that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) taught that conflict resolution and peace are rooted in dialogue, empathy, and justice, offering invaluable guidance for achieving global peace and resolving conflicts.

Referring to the Madina Pact and the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, he said that the Madina Pact remains a powerful example of how different communities can live together in harmony, respecting each other’s beliefs and traditions.

Similarly, he pointed out that the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah exemplifies the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) commitment to peaceful negotiations, which ultimately led to a period of peace and stability, allowing the message of Islam to spread more effectively.

He said that the Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) preached a way of life that provides the foundation for humanity to develop a complete system, described by Allah as Rahmatan lil Alamin—a mercy to all the worlds.

“His teachings embody universal values of love, kindness, and harmony, extending not just to Muslims, but to all of humanity,” he said, adding that it encourages us to show mercy, promote peace, and eliminate hatred and discrimination.

He also acknowledged and commended NRKNA for the excellent arrangements made for the event and for bringing together distinguished speakers to enlighten participants on this important subject.

Gilani said that the topic of this conference is both timely and relevant, given the common societal, regional, and global challenges related to peace, stability, and harmony.
