RAWALPINDI: Six soldiers have been martyred while 12 khwarij have been killed in two encounters in North and South Waziristan.
On September 19 and 20, two fierce encounters took place between troops and the terrorists, resulting in killing of 12 Khwarij, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday. On 19 September, the movement of seven terrorists trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was detected by security forces in Spinwam, North Waziristan. The infiltrators were surrounded, effectively engaged and after an intense fire exchange, all the seven were sent to hell. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition and explosives was recovered.
In the second incident in Ladha, South Waziristan, a group of khwarij attacked a security forces post. Troops fought bravely, foiling the attempt of intrusion and killed five Khwarij. However, during an intense exchange of fire, six brave sons of soil paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat.
“Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” said the ISPR.
