Bail plea for cop who ‘killed’ blasphemy suspect
Court fixed September 25 for further hearing of bail application
QUETTA: Quetta Bar Association President Qari Rehmatullah Khan and advocate Rehmatullah Khan Achakzai have filed a bail application of Constable Saad Khan Sarhadi who allegedly killed blasphemy suspect Abdul Ali alias Shakhi in the Cantt Police Station lockup.
After the initial hearing, the court fixed September 25 for the further hearing of the bail application.
The family of Abdul Ali including his two sons and the elder of the Nourzai tribe pardoned the constable while speaking at a press conference on Friday. They said: “The family and the tribe have nothing to do with the dirty act of blasphemy committed by Abdul Ali.”
Two brothers of the blasphemy accused, Khair Muhammad and Bor Muhammad, were also present. They all condemned Abdul Ali for committing blasphemy. “We never hesitate to render our lives for the honour of the holy prophet (peace be upon him),” said Ali’s sons Usman and Wali. “We have pardoned Saad in the name of Allah and unconditionally,” they said.
