More cops to be deployed soon to protect Chinese nationals, IGP tells CG
Chinese Consul General in Karachi Yang Yundong called on Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office on Friday and discussed in detail the security situation, including matters of mutual interest and police measures in this regard.
Officials said Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho, the DIGs of Security and Emergency Divisions, Establishment and RRF, and other police officers were also present on the occasion. During the meeting, the Chinese consul general invited Sindh IGp to participate in China’s national day celebrations and said both Pakistan and China were very committed to working on the CPEC.
Describing the steps taken by the Sindh police for the security of Chinese residents as satisfactory, he said Chinese businessmen were interested in investing in the Sindh province, especially Karachi, while the formation of a separate force for the security of Chinese residents by the Sindh police was very welcome and encouraging. He said that the Pak-China friendship was invaluable and unparalleled.
IGP Memon said the confidence in security arrangements was a source of strength to the police resolve. He said that more personnel would soon be placed at the disposal of the SPU for the security of the Chinese. "I can assure you that Sindh is a very safe province for the Chinese. Sindh police will gradually increase the number of police personnel regarding the security of Chinese residents. We will do everything to provide a safe and peaceful environment to our Chinese brothers.”
Meanwhile, upon the directives of IGP Memon, Deputy Inspector General Traffic Police Ahmed Nawaz held a meeting with the director finance regarding the E-Pay online challan. The meeting was attended by the ADIG Traffic and SP Traffic Korangi.
Chief Executive Officer A2Z Karachi Shakirullah and Punjab Information Technology Board Focal Person Umar were included in the meeting through Zoom. The E-Pay system will be transferred by the Sindh government’s Finance Department very soon.
