MANSEHRA: The students of Government High School Khushala have been getting education under the open sky as its building couldn’t be reconstructed despite the passage of three years.
“The provincial government has sanctioned Rs50 million for grounding of and reconstruction of dilapidated school building some three years ago but it is yet to be completed,” Sardar Safeer Ahmad Gujjar, a local elder, told reporters here on Friday. He said that the education department had demolished the building but it could not be reconstructed apparently due to non-release of the required funds.
The students have no other option to get education in open spaces even in extreme weather conditions, he said, adding the local residents had taken up the issue with high-ups in the education department but to no avail. He demanded the government to ensure an early release of withheld funds so that the reconstruction of the school building could be completed.
