LAHORE: South Africa women claimed the three-match T20I series 2-1 when they defeated Pakistan women by eight wickets in the third T20I at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday afternoon.

South Africa had managed a 10-run victory in the first T20I and Pakistan has taken an upper hand by winning the second T20I by 13 runs on Wednesday evening at the same venue.

South Africa had to score 154 runs to win when they lost their first batswoman Tazmin Brits to the first over bowled by Sadia Iqbal. At that point of the match, their skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch came together in the middle and added a precious 81-run partnership for the second wicket. Bosch after scoring a 37-ball 46, which included six fours and a six, got retired hurt.

Wolvaardt was dismissed for a 37-ball 45, hitting two fours and as many sixes. Basically, the tourists’s nine-ball win was more due to Annerie Dercksen’s aggressive, unrestricted knock than anything else. She hit six fours and two sixes in a 23-ball 44. Player of the match Dercksen, also got good support from Sune Luus, who remained not out with an 14 off 13 balls. The pair gave an unanswered 51runs for the third wicket.
