ISLAMABAD: Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Special Court Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka sentenced a woman to death for sharing content, related to blasphemy on social media.
According to BBC Urdu, the convict is Christian.
Under the Pakistan Penal Code 295C, death sentence along with Rs300,000 fine, and under Section 11 of PECA, seven-year imprisonment along with Rs100,000 fine, the woman should be hanged. She would also undergo 30-day imprisonment before death sentence implementation. She has the right to approach the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the sentence. The court also issued a warrant to the Adiala jail superintendent to keep the woman in custody.
In another case, an additional district and sessions judge sentenced Muhammad Hashim to life imprisonment after being found guilty in the case related to desecration of the Holy Quran. Under Pakistan Penal Code 295 B, which is punishable by life imprisonment, the court issued a warrant to the Adiala jail superintendent to detain the convict.
