Laser lights targeting aircraft
Sources revealed that last year saw a total of 193 incidents of laser lights targeting aircraft
LAHORE: Incidents of laser lights being directed at aircraft have been reported at several airports across the country.
According to sources, more than 100 such incidents have occurred over the past eight months at eight airports.
As per sources from the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the highest number of laser light incidents, 37, were reported at the Karachi airport, followed by 33 in Lahore.
Sources revealed that last year saw a total of 193 incidents of laser lights targeting aircraft. These lights pose a significant risk to flight safety, as they can cause difficulties for pilots during landing.
The pilots routinely report such incidents, following which the PAA informs the district administration to identify the specific areas involved.
Sources said large laser lights installed at nearby restaurants and wedding halls were often a contributing factor to these incidents.
