LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday rejected the petition against amendment in law for appointment of serving military officer as Nadra chairman, declaring it non-maintainable.
Justice Faisal Zaman of the Lahore High Court took up the petition for hearing.
Petitioner Ishba Kamran, while giving arguments, took the plea that the caretaker government made amendment in section 7 by misusing its powers. “The caretaker government had no legal or constitutional right to amend section 7,” she said.
The petitioner requested the court to nullify the amendment made in section 7. The court remarked that single bench announced the decision already on section 7. “Court has already given such big relief. Why this application has been filed now,” the court asked. The petitioner said section 7 was not challenged in that application.
“The court has given its opinion on section 7 in para 24 of its decision. Now this matter is pending hearing before two-member bench, the court said. “The court will decide about it in appeal.” The court rejected the plea, declaring it non-maintainable.
