Hockey revival
This letter refers to the news report ‘Pakistan win bronze after defeating South Korea in Asian Champions Trophy’ (September 17, 2024). The hockey team deserves praise for overcoming the odds and securing this achievement. Game-by-game and tournament-by-tournament, it seems that the Pakistan hockey team is recapturing the spirit and level of performance that their predecessors possessed in the halcyon days of Pakistan hockey. The people and our national institutions should support them and reinforce their confidence by giving them the same level of status and importance that our national cricket team players get. The state institutions can provide the hockey team with the assistance and resources they need to focus on their game and win accolades for the nation.
