PFF’s provincial polls start today
ISLAMABAD: The provincial and territorial elections of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) will be held on September 19 and 20 in Lahore.
The winning candidates from the District Football Associations (DFAs) of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will participate in the elections.
Voting for ICT, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), and Azad Jammu & Kashmir is scheduled for September 19, while the elections of Punjab, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan will take place on September 20.
Syed Zahir Shah and Col Muhammad Nauman are strong contenders for the post of President KPK Football. Both along with Muhammad Ashraf Khan (Punjab) were allowed to contest election as PFF upheld their appeals against the ban.
The election process began with the release of the preliminary voting list on August 28, 2024. Candidates submitted their nomination papers by August 30, and the initial list of candidates was published on September 3. An appeal window, open until September 8, allowed candidates to address concerns, with the final list of candidates announced on September 16, 2024.
