KARACHI: Pakistan has improved by 14 ranks in the United Nations E-Government Development Index (EGDI), now standing at 136th place in e-governance.
The United Nations has released its ranking of countries regarding e-governance, in which Pakistan has entered the high category for the first time in the EGDI, improving by 14 ranks to reach 136th place. According to the UN report, Pakistan’s e-governance index was at 150 two years ago in 2022. The report also reveals that Pakistan has moved up to 88th place in the UN E-Participation Index, compared to 106th place two years ago.
Per the UN, the country’s e-participation value has also improved, rising from 0.36 to 0.49.Speaking on this matter, State Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima said that Pakistan has improved by 14 ranks in the e-government ranking and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the measures taken for e-government.She added that the role of the Ministry of IT and the National IT Board in e-government is also commendable.
