ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding Chairman Imran Khan on Monday filed a plea seeking an early hearing of his petition against the Islamabad High Court’s decision to reject his request for withdrawal of his appeal in the Tosha Khana case.
Imran Khan submitted a civil miscellaneous application to the Supreme Court, noting that an earlier miscellaneous petition had been filed for an expedited hearing of the case challenging the high court’s rejection of his withdrawal request. However, the case has not yet been scheduled for a hearing.
He argued that the Election Commission of Pakistan had unlawfully de-seated him and initiated criminal proceedings against him. The PTI chairman also informed the court that the Lahore High Court had constituted a full bench to hear his petition challenging the election commission’s decision. However, the case could not proceed as the matter was still pending before the Islamabad High Court.
Imran Khan stated that he had applied to withdraw the case from the Islamabad High Court, but the court’s single bench rejected his withdrawal request. He urged the Supreme Court to schedule an early hearing for his appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s decision.
