All spruced up to celebrate Eid Milad

LAHORE:Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will be celebrated with religious devotion and respect on Tuesday (today) in the provincial metropolis as well as across the country.

The government has announced a public holiday across the country. Seminars, conferences and Na'at gatherings will be held on the subject of the Prophet's life, and processions will be taken out across the country.

In connection with the day, streets, markets and mosques across the City were already decorated with green flags and electric lanterns while public and private buildings have also been illuminated, arches and decorative doors have also been installed in many markets and highways.

A number of citizens especially children and youth have made beautiful models of the Holy Prophet's House, Holy Kaaba and Masjid Nabawi. Religious scholars said that devotion and love for Prophet (PBUH) required that one should not only mention his good character, but by following his teachings, one should become a leader in this world and the hereafter.

On the other hand, strict security arrangements have been made by the police in connection with the celebrations of Eid Milad.

Foolproof security

A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman and Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan participated in the meeting.

The security and arrangements for Eid Milad were reviewed in detail. Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal and IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar gave a briefing on peace and order. Health Minister and Cabinet Committee Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique said that full security arrangements have been made for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). The Punjab government will provide drinks and sweets to the participants in all districts. The Eid Milad will be celebrated with full devotion and respect.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said that no new innovation would be allowed for the peaceful conduct of Eid Milad. Arrangements have been completed with the consultation of peace committees across the province. He said that the routes of all the main processions and the best security arrangements for the Milad gatherings are complete.

Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG CTD, Commissioner Lahore, RPO Sheikhupura, DC Lahore and DIG Operations participated in the meeting. Lahore and Gujranwala division commissioners, deputy commissioners, RPOs and DPOs participated in the meeting through a video link.

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Saddique Kamyana Monday instructed cops to provide foolproof security to participants of Eid Milad-Un-Nabi (PBUH) gatherings and processions.

The CCPO asked cops to monitor checkpoints and take action against suspicious elements. He directed the cops of Dolphin Squad, PRU and Elite Force to patrol around mosques, places of worship, processions, rallies and busy roads effectively on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal (PBUH).

The CCPO asked the cops to perform duties diligently. According to the Lahore Police spokesman, the Lahore police have intensified search and combing operations across the city in connection with Milad celebrations.

The Lahore police conducted 3,014 search operations in eight months to ensure peace and security. The spokesman said security duties in connection with Milad events have been assigned to over 4,000 police personnel, including six SPs, 22 DSPs, 83 SHOs and 215 other cops.

He said during search operations the police inspected 87,609 homes, 53,731 tenants and 194,233 individuals and took action against 1,380 people for various offences. The spokesman maintained under the Tenancy Act, action was taken against 482 individuals and 254 absconding criminals were arrested and 104 people were detained under sections 55/109 of the Criminal Procedure Code, and 172 cases of illegal arms were registered. The police also checked 48 hotels, 26 guesthouses, 89 hostels, four bus stations, 44 warehouses and factories, 5,931 shops and 68 mosques and seminaries.
