Police have registered a case in connection with a hand grenade explosion in District Korangi of Karachi.

Tensions prevailed late on Sunday night in the Moinabad area of Landhi after unidentified suspects attacked the house of a local businessman in the locality with a grenade within the limits of the Sharafi Goth police station.

The case was registered on the complaint of the businessman, Muhammad Zubair, against unidentified suspects. The FIR No 334/2024 included charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Explosives Act, along with other sections.

"I was attending a Milad gathering at 9pm," stated the complainant. "My neighbour Sarfaraz called to inform me that a loud explosion had occurred near my house’s door. The businessman reported that he initially thought it might be a gas line explosion, but when he reached the neighbourhood at around 10:30pm, he found people gathered. "The locals told me it didn’t seem like a gas explosion but more like a hand grenade blast."

The complainant said he informed the police about the incident, after which a police team along with the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) arrived and collected evidence. The BDU confirmed that the explosion was caused by a hand grenade. The complainant said the explosion damaged the wall of his house.
