Customs seizes betel nuts worth Rs25m

The Pakistan Customs Collectorate Enforcement on Monday seized smuggled betel nuts valued at Rs25 million.
According to Syed Irfan Ali, a Customs spokesman, the seizure followed a tip-off from Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi Basit Maqsood Abbasi. The Anti-Smuggling Squad (ASO) of the Enforcement Collectorate Karachi conducted the raid at a warehouse situated at Sir Syed Chowk, Gulzar Hijri Karachi, under the supervision of Deputy Collector Customs Enforcement ASO Muhammad Raza Naqvi. The operation led to the confiscation of 25 tons of hazardous betel nuts.
