Navy’s Tabassum wins gold
KARACHI: Navy’s M H Tabassum won gold medal by scoring 572 points in centre fire pistol event (individual) of the 23rd National Shooting Championship at Karsaz range here on Thursday.
Tabassum scored 285 in precision stage and 287 in rapid stage.
Army’s M Kabeer scored 568 (281 in precision stage and 287 in rapid stage) to win silver medal.
M Boota scored 562 points (281 in precision stage and 281 in rapid stage) to win bronze medal.
In the team category of this event, Army clinched gold by scoring 1,680 points, Navy won silver medal with 1,674 points, and PAF grabbed bronze medal with 1,604 points. According to the medals tally at the end of the sixth day, Navy had 24 gold, 14 silver, and eight bronze medals; Army secured six gold, 12 silver, and nine bronze medals; PAF claimed four silver and eight bronze; HEC clinched two bronze; Sindh got one gold, one silver and two bronze; Baluchistan took one bronze; and Punjab won one bronze.
Sindh won its first gold medal and Baluchistan won its first medal (bronze) on Wednesday.
Usman Sadiq of Sindh won gold medal in trap Olympic event with the score of 137 points (114 in total, 10 in semifinal and 13 in final), while Army’s Farrukh and Zafar won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Farrukh scored 136 points (113 in total, 11 in semi-final, and 12 in final) and Zafar scored 133 points (112 in total, 12 in semi-final, and 9 in final).
In team category of this event, Army won gold with the score of 327 points (113, 112, 102), Navy won silver by scoring 317 points (109, 107, 101) and Sindh won bronze after scoring 289 points (114, 96, 79).
In 3 position rifle (men) event, Army’s Siddique Umer won gold medal by scoring 1133 points (375 in kneeling, 395 in prone, and 363 in standing position). Navy’s Ghufran Adil and Zeeshan Shakir won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Ghufran scored 1,101 points (366 in kneeling, 381 in prone, and 354 in standing position).
Zeeshan scored 1,098 points (364 in kneeling, 372 in prone, and 362 in standing position).
In team category of this event, Army scored 3,315 points to clinch gold medal. PAF scored 3,210 points to claim silver. Baluchistan won bronze medal by scoring 2,035 points. In air pistol (men) event for team category, Navy won gold by scoring 1,709 points, Army won silver medal with the score of 1,699 points, and PAF secured bronze medal by scoring 1,663 points.
In the individual category of this event, M Shahzad of Navy won gold medal with 775.8 points, while Army’s Kaleemullah won silver medal with 770.3 points and Navy’s Uzair Ahmed won bronze medal with 749.2 points.
