FAISALABAD: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bukhari said Sunday social media should be used to project a positive image of the province.
During a media interaction at the Faisalabad Arts Council, she criticised certain elements in Parliament that, according to her, were disrupting the system, adding that they were being facilitated by an institution. She stressed that Parliament’s role is to legislate, and the issue of political facilitation had become too significant to ignore. Shedding light on the governance model under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the minister said the new system would ensure accountability and performance-based reporting. “In the past four years, institutions had become accustomed to not working, but now both the chief minister and officials are actively engaged in their duties,” she added. Azma noted that the CM was focusing particularly on health projects, reducing the trade deficit, and providing relief in electricity bills. She mentioned the ongoing efforts to resolve industry and electricity issues with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), who, according to her, were attempting to exert pressure on the government. However, the government was devising a strategy, and any necessary legislation would be carried out through Parliament. Earlier, Azma Bukhari inaugurated an Islamic calligraphy exhibition at the Faisalabad Arts Council in connection with Eid Miladun-Nabi celebrations. The exhibition featured over 100 pieces by renowned calligraphers.
