Mullah Mansour
This refers to the news report, ‘Mulla Mansour droned in Balochistan: US’ (May 23). Mansour was reportedly killed while travelling in a car from Iran to an unknown destination in Pakistan. The Obama administration is congratulating itself on killing the Taliban leader and on not allowing Pakistan to be a safe haven for terrorists. This unilateral action is a gross violation of our sovereignty and indicative of the US’ future intentions. The US, having miserably failed to achieve its objectives in Afghanistan, is now trying to make Pakistan a scapegoat.
Holding back the promised eight F-16s fighter jets and making the delivery of $450 million aid to fight terrorism almost impossible are clear indications that the US is dictating its terms to us. The CPEC is another irritant for the US and its ally India. It is time we stood up to defend our vital national interests, and told the Americans that we are against all sorts of terrorism, but will take no dictation. We should take up the violation of our sovereignty strongly at all international forums.
