CHITRAL: The “Seventh “KP Languages Conference” is being arranged here tomorrow (Saturday) as part of the efforts for promotion of all the languages spoken in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The organisers said the conference is titled, “Pledge to promote all the languages and cultures of Chitral.”
The moot is the joint effort of the Gandhara Hindko Board, Gandhara Hindko Academy and Anjuman Tarraqi-e-Khowar. The venue is District Council Hall of the Chitral district.
The coordinator for the conference is Muhammad Ziauddin, a noted Hindko writer, poet and research scholar. Mohkamuddin is convener and Shehzada Tanveerul Mulk, Deputy Convener of the progarmme, which will have various segments.
Researchers and literati will read out papers to highlight importance of various languages spoken in Chitral, which is the largest district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, making up 20 per cent of the total area of the province.
An all languages poetry recital session will be another important feature of the conference along with folk music of the respective languages.
It may be mentioned here that the Gandhara Hindko Board has been working for the preservation and promotion of the Hindko language since its launch in 1993.
Headed by Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, a former chief secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the board has expanded the scope of literary and cultural activities by providing a platform to the writers of all native languages of the province.
The board has arranged such conferences in Haipur (Hazara), Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan and Behrain (Swat).
