Youth killed in firing during wedding ceremony
A young man was killed due to celebratory gunfire in the Orangi Town area on Friday. According to police, the incident took place near Iqbal Market in Orangi Town during a wedding ceremony where a 25-year-old youth, Arsalan, son of Rasheed, was hit by a bullet and died.
Following the youth’s death, police reached the scene and inquired into the incident. Police seized an empty shell of a 9mm pistol from the scene. According to police, Arsalan had gone to the ceremony with a friend to celebrate the marriage of their mutual friend.
A policeman, Kashif, posted at the Pakistan Bazaar police station was also present at the wedding, police said, adding that Kashif was reportedly intoxicated and he resorted to celebratory gunfire, which resulted in Arsalan's death.
The suspect fled the scene after the incident. The youth’s body was handed over to the family. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
