PESHAWAR: Police recovered the doctor who was kidnapped for Rs50 million ransom and arrested two members of the ring involved in his abduction, officials said on Friday.

A young doctor, Yousuf, was kidnapped while on his way to hospital from his home in Haji Banda Achini last week. The father of the doctor told police that

the car of his son was

found parked on the roadside some distance from home. The kidnappers also left the phone of the doctor in the car.

Later the family received calls for payment of Rs50 million ransom that was reduced to Rs30 million later.

Senior police officials including Capital City Police Officer Qasim Ali Khan supervised the operations in the suburbs of Peshawar for the recovery of the young doctor. A source said the kidnappers would frequently change location after every call to the family for ransom.

An official said police during an operation released the doctor safe and sound while two kidnappers were arrested and raids were being conducted for the arrest of their accomplices.
