PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Hafiz Naeemur Rahman on Friday urged all the political forces to shun their differences for peace and stability in the country, or else, the situation would get out of control.

Speaking at the inauguration of a membership camp here, he offered to play the role of a bridge among the political forces for the greater cause of promotion of peace and tranquility in the country.

Hafiz Naeem expressed serious concern over the tension between police and security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “It is good, if civil administration and police are ready to take responsibility for internal security. The army should cooperate with them,” he added. He said that it was Asif Ali Zardari who invited the army for internal security for the first time in 2010. Imran Khan, too, later signed the same bill, he added.

He said that all the stakeholders should take care of the situation. “The people want peace, jobs, health facilities and education for their children,” he said, adding, the situation in the country could be improved only when all the institutions start playing their constitutional role.

“The heaviest responsibility falls upon the one who is deputed against the most important position,” he added.

Hafiz Naeem went on to say that the Jamaat-e-Islami was the only political force, which had taken to the streets for the rights of the people. “We want to unite the whole nation. We have launched a membership drive across the country. We urge the people to come forward and become members of the JI,” he stressed.

Accompanied by the provincial president of the party Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, former member National Assembly Abdul Akbar Chitrali, district president of the party Bahrullah Khan and others, Hafiz Naeem said that the ruling elite has occupied the corridors of power in the country for 77 years and they have pushed the country toward backwardness instead of development.
