ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) has taken a major decision in the Upper House regarding the expected constitutional amendments about the top judiciary.
The JUIF has stopped its Senate members from any kind of voting on the proposed constitutional amendment.
JUIF parliamentary leader in the Senate Kamran Murtaza said in a letter to the members that nothing is clear regarding the constitutional amendment. Therefore, no voting should be done until the written decision of the party leadership is there.
Murtaza directed JUIF senators to implement the decision by observing party discipline under Article 63A of the Constitution.
Meanwhile, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s ambiguous behavior on the expected constitutional amendment remained a topic of discussion in the Parliament House on Thursday.
When Maulana Fazlur Rehman came to the National Assembly session and started his speech on Thursday, it was expected that his speech would make things clear in this regard. But he did not give any direction to his 8 MNAs in the National Assembly and 5 senators.
