The Eye Bank Hospital under the management of the Pakistan Eye Bank Society has made a tremendous progress since its inception.
The hospital which was founded 50 years back was initially dedicated to eye treatments, but with the passage of time it started offering treatments for heart ailment, dental cancer, dialysis and pathology.
Millions of people from under privileged areas are being provided medical treatments of par excellence, Qazi Sajid, president of the Pakistan Eye Bank Society, said in a statement.
He noted that in 2023 alone, 43,000 eye patients were provided treatments, 2,500 patients’ cornea was operated upon, while 2,470 were provided dental treatment, which included 26 oral cancer patients.
He added that 5,500 cardiac patients were treated and 1,267 patients were provided dialysis. The hospital also offers pathology services whereby 4,000 people got test services. Qazi Sajid further shared that 25,000 eyes were received from Sri Lanka, which would help 25,000 individuals to witness the beauty of the world.
He expressed his gratitude for a Los Angeles-based organisation ‘Women’s Team’, which organized a fund raising for the Pakistan Eye Bank Society in LA. A good number of Pakistanis graced the occasion and more than three hundred thousand dollars equivalent to seven crore Pakistani rupees were donated by them. He thanked Rukhsana Umer, Nasreen Godeal, Altaf and Ahsan Rehman for their efforts.
