Governor writes to PM, CM for declaring 11th Rabiul Awwal as public holiday
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori on Thursday addressed letters to the prime minister, the chief minister of Sindh, and the chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) regarding the observance of Rabiul Awwal.
In his correspondence with the prime minister and the chief minister, the governor underscored the significance of Rabiul Awwal as a sacred month for the Muslim Ummah.
He proposed that a public holiday be declared on the 11th of Rabiul Awwal to allow people to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi with the necessary religious fervour.
In his letter to the Pemra chairman, he requested the prohibition of dance, music, films, and similar content during the holy month. He suggested that television channels and cable operators be instructed accordingly and emphasised that programming focused on the teachings and life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) would foster positive development and guidance for the younger generation.
