A case has been registered in connection with Wednesday night’s fire incident in an illegal petrol shop and the adjacent barber shop in Shah Faisal Colony.
Police said the case had been registered on the complaint of Salman, brother of a citizen who burned to death while having a haircut in the adjacent barber shop, under murder and other sections.
According to the complainant, he was informed from Jinnah Hospital that his younger brother had been brought to the hospital in an injured condition. When he reached the hospital, his brother had passed away.
The complainant told the police that his brother Siraj Ahmad Shah was getting a haircut at the barber shop when a fire broke out in the petrol shop at 8:15pm and a petrol nozzle installed at the barber shop also caught fire, engulfing both shops in flames.
According to the plaintiff, people climbed to the top floor for saving their lives, while his brother suffered serious burns inside the shop and later died at Jinnah Hospital.
Riaz Ahmed, owner of the petrol shop, and Raheel Aslam, owner of the barber shop, have been named in the case.
The complainant says that the owners installed the petrol pump nozzle and did not take safety measures, which led to the accident.
