Adult literacy curriculum launched
Islamabad:The National Curriculum Council (NCC), under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency's Advancing Quality Alternative Learning project, has officially launched the Adult Literacy Curriculum 2024.
Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani attended the launch event as the chief guest. NCC Joint Educational Adviser Dr. Shafqat Ali Junjua highlighted the key features of the Adult Literacy Curriculum.
He commended the professional contributions of the NCHD and the JICA team. According to him, the Adult Literacy Curriculum aims to provide essential literacy skills to individuals, particularly women aged 16 and above, who were never enrolled in school.
JICA Chief Adviser Chiho Ohashi delivered a detailed presentation on the literacy rate, comparing Pakistan with neighbouring countries. AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr. Nasir Mehmood also praised the initiative of the ministry. NCHD Director Literacy Syed Akbar spoke about the ‘Each One, Teach One’ programme of the NCHD and its alignment with the adult literacy initiative.
