ISLAMABAD: Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ordered probe into firing at FIA raiding party and police during operation against smuggling network of iPhone and non-custom-paid mobile phones in a mobile market in Karachi.
A spokesman of FIA Headquarters Islamabad said that the raid, conducted by the FIA State Bank Circle in collaboration with Quaidabad Police, aimed to crack down on a smuggling network operating in Shah Latifabad’s mobile market.
The operation, which took place at a mobile phone shop in Shah Latif, followed intelligence reports indicating the presence of smuggled and non-custom-paid mobile phones, including over 160 smuggled iPhones. Upon entering the premises, officers encountered fierce resistance from the suspects, who opened fire, resulting in one police officer being shot in the foot.
