LAHORE:Traffic police have ticketed more than 20,000 vehicles so far for causing pollution. The police issued ticket worth Rs2,000 each to smoke-emitting vehicle and impounded 5,941 such vehicles at various police stations.
The traffic police issued tickets to more than 12,000 vehicles for carrying sand, soil, and other pollution-causing items. Owners of 2,321 tractor-trolleys were also issued fine tickets for causing air pollution at night. Action was also taken against owners of 21,115 vehicles for plying the vehicles on roads without valid fitness certificates, and 518 fitness certificates of vehicles were canceled as well.
