Suspect involved in killing of navy officer, daughter arrested

Police announced on Monday the arrest of a suspect linked to the killing of a navy officer and his daughter during a robbery attempt last year.

Ali Gauhar, the key suspect, was alleged to have fatally shot Tahir Zaman, a sailor in the Pakistan Navy, and his two-year-old daughter, Anam, on September 24 of last year. The gruesome incident occurred when Zaman had taken his daughter to Sea View for an outing. On their way back through Sector 16 of Korangi Industrial Area, two unidentified armed men attempted a robbery.

As the naval officer put up resistance, the suspects opened fire, resulting in the deaths of both Zaman and his daughter. A case was filed at the Korangi Industrial Area Police Station by Zaman’s relative, Fazal Rehman, accusing the unidentified suspects of murder and attempted robbery under sections 302 and 23/393.
