ISLAMABAD: In view of the decision to dissolve PWD, the Ministry of Housing and Construction has transferred the employees from grades one to thirteen to the respective ministries and departments, including posts and budget.
The maintenance staff of PWD is 2,140 in North Zone, 477 in Central Zone, 633 in South Zone and 90 in West Zone. In total 3,340 employees will be transferred. These transfers have been made in the light of the decision of federal cabinet of August 27, 2024.
The Ministry of Housing has issued a formal notification of maintenance operation and transfer of staff. According to the notification, all inquiries of PWD established in Islamabad, including staff, have been transferred to CDA. Federal lodges and all inquiries along with the staff at Federal Lodges Islamabad attached to Estate Office Management have been transferred to the Estate Office.
The staff of maintenance of federal residences managed by the Estate Office in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta has been transferred to the Estate Office. The maintenance staff of inquiries in other cities of the country, except Islamabad, which is responsible for the maintenance of federal offices, has been transferred to the ministry or division or department concerned. From September 30, the maintenance staff will receive the salary from the new department.
Executive Engineers of PWD have been directed to update the records by September 10 for handing over to the new departments. All inquiries will be transferred by September 30.
