HARIPUR: Two girl students were killed and eight injured when the newly constructed roof of a seminary caved in here on Sunday evening.
Police and rescue sources said that the routine class of girl students was underway on the ground floor of Madrassa Maria Qabtia Lilbinnaat New City, Dheenda Road, when the roof of the second storey that was constructed a few days back, fell on the classroom where the students were taking the class. All of them, including a teacher, were trapped under the debris.
The police and rescue workers launched the rescue operation and shifted the injured to the Trauma Centre where, according to Dr Mohsin Raza, Medical Superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital, two students were declared as brought dead and eight injured.
Five injured were admitted for treatment with multiple injuries while three were discharged after administering first aid.Police and rescue sources were busy clearing the debris as, according seminary administration, two girl students were believed to be still trapped under the debris.
