Dengue fever starts hitting population badly in Pindi
Rawalpindi : Dengue fever has started hitting population badly in this region of the country particularly in Rawalpindi district from where as many as 63 individuals have tested positive for the infection in the last five days while one death due to the infection has also been confirmed by the district health authority Rawalpindi.
Data collected by ‘The News’ on Saturday has revealed that the death of a four-year old child, a girl, was confirmed last week due to dengue fever who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rawalpindi along GT Road. The confirmation of 63 patients positive for the infection from Rawalpindi district has taken the tally to 145.
It is worth mentioning here that in the last 24 hours, another 14 patients from Rawalpindi district have tested positive for the infection. The trend of the incidence of the infection, at least, in the last five days or so hints that a severe outbreak of the infection may hit the population in the next two to three weeks if the concerned authorities fail in checking spread of the infection at the time.
Many health experts are of the view that in this situation, it is a must for the individuals and the concerned authorities to take preventive and control measures religiously to avoid outbreak of the infection in the coming days as the incidence of dengue fever has so far been reported from a number of localities in the district and the situation may take an alarming turn in the next few days. It is important that the peak season for dengue fever transmission in this region of the country starts in the beginning or middle of September and lasts till November.
The number of confirmed cases of dengue fever has been continuously on the rise for the last two weeks in Rawalpindi district.
