I would like to draw the SBP’s attention to the plight of the Sohni Dharti Remittance Programme. It has been more than a year since the mobile app for this programme stopped automatically acknowledging the remittances and awarding of the associated points. Then there were a few months of down time in the name of an upgrade from the end of 2023 till well into 2024. Now, none of the transactions are being picked up automatically and the points reward function always fails and one has to raise a complaint to get this transaction done. These complaints are often marked as ‘resolved’ even though they have not been.
This is even worse than the system that was in place back in the early 2000s. Many remittances do not enter the SDRP system due to these issues. If the idea was to make legal transactions more attractive, the current system has proven to be counterproductive.
