QWP leader passes away in Swabi

SWABI: Qaumi Watan Party leader and noted columnist Mohammad Jamil Marghuz passed away after protracted illness on Friday. He was 75.Being an established lawyer, he was one of the founders of Swabi Qaumi Mahaz. Hailing from Marghuz village in Swabi, he was one of the staunched leaders of Awami National Party (ANP) before parting ways with it.

He later quit the ANP and became part of Qaumi Inqilabi Party.He along with Dr Mohammad Salim, former forest minister, Awwal Sher Khan, ex-MPA Abdul Majid Khan and various other disgruntled leaders and workers established Swabi Qaumi Mahaz in 1994.

Later, he left the SQM and rejoined ANP but soon joined Qaumi Watan Party. He also contributed to an Urdu language newspaper. He had no children and is survived by two widows and nephews to mourn his death.

His funeral is expected to be held on Saturday (today).Meanwhile, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of senior columnist and party leader Jamil Marghuz Advocate.

In a statement, the QWP leaders prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to his family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity. They said that QWP had lost a committed and sincere political leader. The services of the deceased for the cause of the Pakhtuns would be remembered forever, they said, adding that Jamil Marghuz served the party to the best of his abilities.The statement further said that the QWP would observe one-day mourning over the death of Jamil Marghuz.
