Self-employment: Girls from Chitral imparted digital skill training

PESHAWAR: Twenty-five girls from Lower Chitral, including Kalash valley, completed a two-month digital skill training at the Munawar Humayun Training Centre of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) here on Friday.

Titled “Digital Livelihood Training in Amazon Virtual Assistance,” the training was organised by SRSP as part of the “Renovation and Expansion of Education Facilities in Ayun Union Council, in the border regions of Lower Chitral.

“The project is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany through the PATRIP Foundation and KfW.Upon completion of the training, the graduates were given certificates at a ceremony. CEO SRSP, the representatives of GFC and PATRIP, and other officials were present on the occasion.

“The training was aimed at equipping the participants with essential digital skills to promote self-employment in online businesses and enhance household income,” said an official of SRSP, adding over 17000 youths had been trained in various trades, including digital skills at the centre.

The event concluded with the awarding certificates to the participants. “It was an amazing programme. It has opened a new platform for us to earn livelihood for our families,” said Rashma from the Kalash valley. She thanked the organisers for providing an enabling environment during the training.

Faryal of Lower Chitral hoped the training would go a long way in changing the lives of the graduates in a positive way. “Many of the participants of training have decided to launch their own business,” she said and thanked the PATRIP Foundation and SRSP for organizing the programme for the youths in far-off areas like Chitral.
