Alleged murderer of cop killed in encounter

ABBOTTABAD: The alleged killer of a cop was killed in an encounter in Lambi Dheri in the jurisdiction of Sikandarabad Police Station here on Friday.

Constable Shahzeb had embraced martyrdom and Constable Ehtesham Rafiq was injured in a clash with the outlaws in the area a day earlier. Police had registered the case under sections 302/353/324/189 PPC 7-ATA and started a search operation for tracing the accused.

Police officials said DIG Tahir Ayub Khan had formed a special investigation team headed by DPO Abbottabad Umar Tufail to arrest the alleged killer. The special investigation team, the sources said, traced the alleged killer, Ahsan, with the help of modern technical facilities and reached “Bui de Gali “to arrest him. “And in an encounter the accused, Ahsan alias Redar, resident of Lambi Dhei, was killed,” said a police official.

A number of pistols and cartridges were recovered from the possession of the accused, the official said, adding a case was registered under section 353/324 PPC against the accused. DIG Hazara Tahir Ayub Khan announced to award certificates of appreciation and cash reward for the entire team.Meanwhile, the funeral prayers for the martyred police officer were offered at the police line headquarters.
