Eight steel units sealed for making substandard products

LAHORE:Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) Friday sealed eight steel factories for manufacturing substandard products and initiated action against the involved traders.

Following the directives from PM’s office, the PSQCA launched a crackdown on factories manufacturing substandard steel products and unlicenced units across Punjab. On the orders of the PSQCA DG Toufeeq Abbasi, the Director Standards Development Centre Engr MRizwan took stern action. The seizures were made under the supervision of DD Asghar Ali, Assistant Director Nouman Khaliq, and Field Officer Taimur Ahmed, alongside the PSQCA enforcement team and local police. The PSQCA teams raided various manufacturing sites in City, resulting in seizure of six illegal manufacturing units, with legal action also initiated against the involved traders. In Gujranwala, teams led by Deputy Director Asad Kirmani raided and sealed two steel units that were found to be non-compliant with industry standards. Huge quantity of steel products was also seized on the spot. Prior to action, multiple notices were issued to these units for registration.
