Pakistan’s recent defeat against Bangladesh in a two-Test series played on home soil has sent shockwaves through the cricket community. The dismal performance of Pakistani batters on the Rawalpindi stadium pitch was juxtaposed with Bangladesh's effortless batting display on the same surface. This stark contrast raises serious concerns about the team's preparedness and strategy. Our team has the potential to triumph over any opponent, but it requires rigorous polishing and strict guidance. By prioritizing league cricket, including the PSL, over international competitions, the PCB has compromised the development of our cricketers.
Allowing players to participate in foreign league cricket without improving domestic conditions has further exacerbated the issue. The current state of affairs is a disservice to loyal fans who have stood by the team through thick and thin. Mere stadium construction is not the solution. We must focus on nurturing talented players. A robust domestic cricket system, investment in youth development programs, and attracting top coaching talent are essential steps towards revival. Fostering a culture of accountability and discipline within the team will also help.
