Every problem can become an opportunity. Our excess electricity generation capacity can be solved by promoting energy intensive industries to increase usage. Crypto currency mining, data storage, mineral foundries, steel plants, cement plants, ammonia from water, tin industry, paper industry and even many farm tools are energy intensive. If the government reduces electricity prices and builds infrastructure near electricity generation plants, many new industries can be created along with many jobs.
The benefits of energy can only be realized if its price is reduced. The government would have to ask the IPPs to forgo capacity payments for five years to help reduce the price of electricity and foster the industrialization of Pakistan.
