Ex-SHO shot dead by stepbrother

LAHORE:Former SHO Lohari Gate Shahid Asghar was shot dead by his stepbrother in North Cantt area on Thursday.

Shahid Asghar had previously confronted with his stepbrother Ali about his security guards, who had been repeatedly harassing the victim’s son. Shahid had asked Ali to ensure that his guards cease this troubling behaviour. After these warnings, the tensions escalated between the brothers and culminating in the fatal confrontation. On the day of the incident, Ali shot dead Shahid and fled the scene. Police shifted body to morgue.

11 die in road accidents in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,283 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,381 were injured. Out of these, 598 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 783 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Two electrocuted

Two persons lost their lives due to electrocution in the Bedian Road area Thursday. The victims, identified as Umar, 35, and Naveed, 25, were working on the roof of a house in Nadarabad when the incident occurred. According to reports, while they were engaged in their task, an iron rod being held by one of them came into contact with live electric wires. This contact caused a fatal electric shock to both men. The electric shock was so severe that both died on the spot.

Two bodies found

The bodies of two people were recovered from Civil Line and Sabzazar police areas on Thursday. According to the Edhi spokesperson, body of a 55-year-old man was found near Ganga Ram Hospital Gate No 5, in the limits of Civil Lines police, while a 35-year-old man was found dead on the footpath at Liaquat Chowk, in the jurisdiction of Sabzazar police. Both the victims, yet to be identified, were addicts. Bodies were shifted to the mortuary by the Edhi volunteers.
