The dreams of Punjab's electricity consumers might turn into a nightmare as the Rs14 per unit subsidy on electricity bills announced by Maryam Nawaz might end up being taken away or cut. I find it strange that the IMF turns a blind eye towards the BISP, a much larger government-subsidized scheme, but a much smaller scheme appears to have irked them.
Let us see how the IMF reacts to the scheme of providing solar systems for free or at subsidized rates to the people of the governments of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
