Four female cops suspended for negotiating bribe
Four female police officials were suspended after a video clip showing them negotiating the amount of bribe went viral on social media platforms. The video shows the police officers at the SSP East Complaint Cell.
A female officer can be seen negotiating the amount of bribe with a fellow officer who had come to the complaint cell regarding a complaint filed against him. The affected officer can be heard saying that he has only Rs30,000.
A spokesperson for the Karachi police said the city police chief has taken notice of the video, sought a report from the District East police chief, and ordered severe action against the officers involved.
The SSP East immediately suspended the police officers involved, and ordered an inquiry into the matter. Further departmental action will be taken based on the findings of the report, according to the spokesperson.
The video showing the female police officers demanding bribe at the SSP East Complaint Cell was circulated on social media by the affected officer, leading to the current investigation.
