Geopolitical evening
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is becoming stronger and a rival to the US’ decades-long hegemony. The de-dollarization initiative and the establishment of the New Development Bank (NDP) in 2015 are highly meritorious steps taken by Russia and China, arguably the SCO’s two leading countries, to help bring about a new geopolitical landscape. Surprisingly, the member countries of the SCO are mainly landlocked which exempt them from bully sanctions of the US.
Pakistan is also a member of the SCO and it remains to be seen how it leverages this organization to advance its own place in the world. The SCO has the potential to become an influential organization on a global level in the near future, but it is essential to ensure the smooth working of the organization.
