MULTAN: Punjab Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell, Crime Surveillance Unit, Inspection Team and Special Monitoring Unit chairman Brig (retd) Babar Alauddin Monday asked all departments to establish help desks and display banners for public guidance.
Chairing a meeting of the departments’ heads at the office of Multan Deputy Commissioner (DC) during his two-day visit to Multan, the CMPCCSUITSMU chief asked the heads of the departments to facilitate the masses at all levels.
DC Waseem Hamid Sindhu briefed him on ongoing development projects in Multan.Brig Babar said the government institutions should do their work diligently.
He lauded ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ scheme and termed it a unique one as such plan was not executed by any political government in the past. He said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz started more than 100 projects in a record period.
He asked the heads to establish help desks for people and display banners for their guidance. He said the impression of less development in south Punjab is not correct as billions of rupees are being spent in development projects in the area.
He said strict monitoring of government departments would continue and strict action would be initiated against individuals found involved in corruption.Brig Babar said bringing transparency in development projects by changing the official culture is the priority and good governance of Punjab is an example for other provinces.
He said the model of good governance should be introduced through ideal coordination of political and administrative leadership. The infrastructure, health, education sectors are being improved on priority basis, he maintained.
The DC said the district administration has practically implemented the vision of the CM and a grand cleaning operation has been started across the district through the Suthra Punjab campaign.
Brig Babar also visited the Multan Commissioner office and held a meeting with the commissioner, who briefed him on the progress of ongoing development projects and the initiatives of the Punjab government. The commissioner said stabilizing prices of essential commodities is a top priority of the government.
The commissioner said the “Clean Punjab Campaign” and the “Plant a Tree for Pakistan” initiative are practical steps towards providing a clean environment for citizens.The commissioner said the CM’s people-friendly vision is being implemented in the Multan division and to protect the public from inflation, farmers have been given direct access to markets.
Brig Babar said last month 169 price control magistrates conducted over 200,000 inspections across the division and booked 80 people over defying rules and detained 1,128 profiteers and imposed Rs 21,358,025 fine on violators.
SCHOOL CHILDREN PROJECT: South Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Fuad Hashim Rabbani Monday directed the School Education Department of South Punjab to initiate the second phase of the “Zero out of school children” project following the success of its pilot project.
In this second phase, the project will be implemented across all union councils of district Layyah.The ACS instructed the Layyah CEO Education to collect data of out-of-school children and nearby schools in the district.
The ACS issued this direction during a meeting with Layyah CEO Education. south Punjab Secretary Services Engineer Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen also attended the meeting.The ACS emphasized that under this campaign, newly enrolled students will be provided with free uniforms, shoes, stationery, and school bags with the support of philanthropists. Fuad said once all arrangements are finalized, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz will be invited to Layyah for the inauguration of the project.
He said the “Zero out of School Children” project would be gradually expanded to all districts of South Punjab. The meeting also agreed on the proposal to collect data on children from the Health Department’s Polio Programme and other sources. It is worth noting here that with the cooperation of UNICEF and JICA, the School Education Department South Punjab had initially launched the pilot project in six union councils of Layyah, Multan, and Bahawalpur.The decision to move forward with the second phase was made in light of the successful results of the pilot project.
