80pc of Pakistanis are married, 20pc are unmarried: Gallup survey

Some 75% in urban areas while 83% in rural areas said they were married and survey revealed that there was 12% higher ratio of marriage among women as compared to men

ISLAMABAD: The Gallop survey findings have revealed the ratio of married and unmarried people in Pakistan. Gallup Pakistan survey, conducted between June 28 and July 10, 2024, revealed that four out of every five people in Pakistan are married.

Q: Are you married? In the survey, 80 percent of Pakistanis said they were married, while 20 percent said they were unmarried. Among the married people, the ratio of women, rural population and people above 50 years was higher.

Some 75 percent in urban areas while 83 percent in rural areas said they were married and the survey revealed that there was 12 percent higher ratio of marriage among women as compared to men.

If we look at the results of the survey in terms of age, 56 percent of people up to 30 years of age said they were married while 44 percent said they were unmarried.

Some 91 percent of those aged 30 to 50 were married while 9 percent said they were unmarried. Some 96 percent of people over 50 years of age were married while 4 percent were unmarried.

On the question of how long has your marriage been, 17 percent of the people in the survey said that it was 2 to 5 years, 30 percent said that it was 5 to 10 years, 17 percent said that it was 10 to 15 years, 14 percent said that it was 15 to 20 years, 9 percent said that it was 20 to 25 years, while 13 percent said that the marriage had lasted more than 25 years.
