Bid to smuggle drugs foiled

PESHAWAR/TANK: The Excise and Narcotics Control Department recovered 18 kilograms of heroin in two separate actions in the provincial capital while the police foiled a bid to smuggle 96 kgs of hashish in Tank district, officials said on Sunday.

In the first action on Ring Road in the provincial capital, 15 kgs of heroin were recovered from a vehicle nearing registration number ARU-822. The driver of the car managed to escape.In another action, three kgs of heroin were recovered from a house in Baghbanan and an alleged drug dealer Ajmal was arrested. The drug was being sold from the place to local customers.

Meanwhile, the police in Tank recovered 96kgs of hashish from the secret cavities of a vehicle and arrested two accused.District Police Officer Muhammad Nawaz said that the drug was recovered from a vehicle which was on its way to Tank from South Waziristan.
