Rain-hit rural schools to be repaired within 10 days
Islamabad:Director General of the Federal Directorate of Education Syed Junaid Ikhlaq and senior officials on Sunday visited six rural public schools here to evaluate the impact of recent heavy rains and bolster efforts to improve educational facilities.
He unveiled an extensive repair strategy, pledging to complete the necessary restoration within 10 days. The DG said the strategy involved repainting the schools, upgrading electrical systems, fixing washrooms, and repairing windowpanes.
He assigned tasks to the Project Director, including setting up a computer lab with 40 computers at Islamabad Model College for Boys Maira Begwal, building a boundary wall at Islamabad Model School for Boys Phulgran, and creating a library at Islamabad Model School for Girls Phulgran.
The DG stressed the need to boost enrolment in rural schools and highlighted several key initiatives by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, including hiring of teachers, launch of a school meal programme, establishment of mother and child health centres, and creation of IT labs to enhance digital skills.
He instructed AEOs to make regular weekly visits to the schools within their areas and said new programmes for rural teachers were being considered to improve retention and motivation. The DG said FDE officials would supervise repairs at the rain-hit rural schools. He emphasised the role of community involvement in supporting local schools and urged school staff to ensure full attendance and active participation in the initiatives.
