RAWALPINDI: Khurram Shahzad who ripped apart Bangladesh’s top order on Sunday, leaving them struggling at 26 for six, wants to play for Pakistan for a long time.
Talking about his achievement, he said that efforts were to bowl out Bangladesh cheaply. “We had our chance as we reduced them to 26 for 6. Then the partnership got going and we had to wait for wickets that did not look like coming easily.”
Khurram hoped that Pakistan would go on to win the Test. “We are very much in the game as I am confident that we would go on to win the Test and draw the series. We believe in ourselves and are confident that we will come up good with the bat in the second innings.”
To a question on Babar Azam’s form and whether he would live up to expectations in the second innings, he said that Babar is a quality batsman and knows well how to live up to the challenge.
Khurram said the six-wicket haul gave him a lot of confidence for the future. “When you pick wickets your confidence grows and makes you more spirited to perform.” Khurram said he was hopeful of making an impact in the second innings too. “I am hopeful that we will be in a position to bowl out Bangladesh in the second innings, winning the match for Pakistan. We can do that,” he said.
